The ChatGPT Query Fan Out Tool is a free Chrome extension. It shows the web searches ChatGPT ran for each answer in the chat you have open, the pages those searches found, and which of those pages the answer cites. Everything it reads stays in your browser. It sends nothing to us.
1. Who we are
AIS Insights is the trading name of AIS Insights Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17513349, whose registered office is at Office 2138, 60 Tottenham Court Road, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2EW.
AIS Insights makes the tool. For any question about it, email privacy@aisinsights.com. The tool is not affiliated with OpenAI.
2. What the tool reads
When you open the tool on a chatgpt.com tab, it reads the chat open in that tab. It reads it through your own signed-in ChatGPT session, the same way the ChatGPT page loads your chat. It reads:
- your prompts in that chat
- the web searches ChatGPT ran for each answer
- the pages those searches found, with their titles and links
- which of those pages each answer cites
It reads only when you open it, and only the chat in the tab you are on. It does not read other tabs, other websites, or your other chats.
3. Where it keeps it
Nowhere. The tool shows what it read while it is open. When you close it, what it read is gone. It saves nothing to your computer or your browser’s storage, and it reads the chat again the next time you open it.
When you press Copy, the tool puts that answer’s searches and pages on your clipboard, so you can paste them where you choose. It does nothing else with them.
4. What it sends to us
Nothing. The tool has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no cookies. It talks only to chatgpt.com. No chat content, search or page ever reaches AIS Insights or anyone else.
5. The access it asks for
The tool asks Chrome for one thing: access to chatgpt.com, so it can read the chat you have open. It asks for no other website and no other permission.
6. Links in the tool
The tool links to pages on other websites: the pages ChatGPT found, ChatGPT itself, and our homepage through “Find out more”. Opening a link takes you to that website, and its own privacy policy applies.
The “Find out more” link tells our website that you came from the tool (it carries utm_source=chrome_extension). Once you are on our website, our privacy policy covers what happens there.
Your use of ChatGPT is covered by OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy.
7. Changes to this policy
If the tool changes what it reads, keeps or sends, we update this page and the date at the top before the new version reaches the Chrome Web Store.
